Gasoline prices this Labor Day are set to be the lowest since 2004.

Gas Buddy predicts a national average of $2.19 per gallon, down nearly 37 cents from last year and the lowest priced Labor Day gasoline since 2004’s $1.82 per gallon average.

In Vicksburg, drivers can already take advantage of prices below the predicted national average. While most stations are charging $1.81 per gallon, Murphy’s Express at 4103 Pemberton Square Blvd. is charging $1.79 according to Gas Buddy. A few stations are charging $1.85.

Gas prices are likely to continue falling as seasonal factors kick in, reducing demand. We also switch back to cheaper winter gasoline in just a couple of weeks, bringing prices down even further as it is less expensive to refine.
