Numerous 911 calls on shots fired

The last 15 minutes have seen several calls made to 911 reporting “shots fired”‘ in Vicksburg.

There have been three shootings in the last week. The shooter on Speed Street was captured earlier this week. The shooters on Starlight Drive were captured earlier this week, and the kids who shot into the air on Walnut and South streets last Saturday night are still on the loose.

In a much promoted event last summer, Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs Jr. passed an ordinance against firing guns in the city.

Flaggs and Vicksburg Police Chief Milton Moore have come under criticism from business owners who believe they are not doing enough to curtail lawlessness in the city.
