Obituary: Billy Wayne Chapin 1955-2023

Billy Wayne Chapin

Billy Wayne Chapin, age 67, of Vickburg, Mississippi passed away on February 24, 2023 at Merit Health River Region Hospital.

Chapin was born in Odessa, Texas on December 17, 1955 to the late Willie Joe Chapin and Joyce Marie Chapin. He retired from Carpenters Local as a millwright and welder. He spent his freetime hunting and fishing.

Billy was preceded in death by his two brothers, Joe and Willie Chapin, and his two nephews, Jody and Jesse Chapin. He is survived by his sisters, Romona Nelson and Terry Christian, his brother, Randy Dee, and his sisters-in-law, Tammy Chapin, Debbie Chapin, and Ruby Chapin. He is also survived by his daughter, Carmen Gary and spouse Harvey, and his daughter Jessica Reep and spouse Rick.

Billy has five grandchildren by whom he survives, Tommy Dotson, Gage Reep and spouse Payton, Brooklyn Solís, Bailey Solís, and John Elmore, two great-grandchildren, A’Laiyah Love and TJ Dotson, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held from 12:00p.m.-2:00p.m. on Monday, February 27, 2023, at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Services will begin at 2:00PM in Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Brumfield officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jay Hynum, Charles Whatley, Eric Solis, Harold Hoover, James Lynn, Jason Chapin, Stacy McDuff, and Terry Lawrence. Honorary pallbearer will be Sando Newell.

The family would like to thank Charles and Lynise Whatley, along with other friends and family, for their loving support.
