Off-duty state trooper reportedly killed in Jefferson County

Numerous law enforcement agencies are on scene on Highway 61 near Cannonsburg Road in Jefferson County.

Information from numerous sources, including WLBT, indicates a homicide has taken place and the deceased is a Mississippi state trooper who was moonlighting driving for a contractor that transports mail.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is in charge of the crime scene.
