As the leaves begin to fall and the temperature, hopefully, begins to drop, the folks at Old Courthouse Museum are busy preparing for the 37th Annual Old Court House Fall Flea Market.

The Flea Market will be held at the Old Courthouse, 1008 Cherry St., Oct. 5, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Several thousand visitors are expected to come out and enjoy all that the vendors will be offering.

“This is our biggest flea market of the year,” said coordinator Jordan Rushing. ” We do two each year, one in the spring and one in the fall. It is a fundraiser for the Old Courthouse Museum, and we usually have a really good attendance. About 3,000 to 5,000 people come out each year to shop, and we have vendors coming from all over the United States.”

The event draws out first-time and recurring vendors and visitors, leading to an inviting atmosphere.

“Folks end up spending most of their time just in the streets talking,” Rushing said. “You’ll see families walking their dogs, strollers out in the streets. As long as the weather is fine, people will come out.”

There are still vendor spots available, and those interested should contact the Old Courthouse Museum at 601-636-0741.

“It’s worth coming out,” Rushing said.  “There will be food vendors, and the museum will be open as well. So if it gets too hot, people can come in and enjoy the cool air.”
