Former Ole Miss football player and current Florida International University player Luke Knox has died.

Knox, 22, died on Wednesday after being hospitalized.

FIU head coach Mike MacIntyre issued a statement on his player’s passing.

“He had a special way of making everyone around him feel comfortable and confident. Luke’s family is special to me, and they will continually be in my heart and in my prayers during this difficult time.”

Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin also took to social media to express his sorrow.

Knox played in seven games for the Rebels last season before transferring to FIU. He is the younger brother of the Buffalo Bills football player Dawson Knox.

Bills head coach Sean McDermott expressed his condolences by stating “our hearts go out to Dawson and his family during this time, and we’re right there with him and supporting him and his family.” “Just tragic news that I woke up to this morning. We love him and we support him.”

At this time there is no official word on what caused Knox’s death.
