One arrested in Sunday night’s deputy involved head-on collision
One person has been arrested after a collision with a Warren County Sheriff’s Deputy patrol unit on Sunday night.
Sheriff Martin Pace reports, “As has been reported, on the night of March 5th just after 7:15 a motor vehicle crash involving a pickup truck and a Sheriff’s patrol car on Fisher Ferry Road just south of Amanda Drive. It appears that a Vicksburg Fire Department ambulance and a Warren County Deputy were northbound on Fisher Ferry after just leaving a medical call. The ambulance was in front of the deputy. A southbound pickup truck veered across the center line barely missing the ambulance and striking the deputy, nearly head-on. It caused the patrol car to overturn. The deputy was transported to the hospital reporting no injuries but just as our protocol he has to go to the hospital where he was examined and cleared. The driver of the pickup truck, after refusing medical treatment by the paramedics on the scene, ultimately did go to the hospital.
When we ran a routine name check on him it revealed he had an active warrant for his arrest out of circuit court. So he was arrested on a circuit court warrant for possession of meth that had been issued by Judge Terrett. Once he was in custody we required that he be examined before he was taken to jail. He was transported to River Region where he was treated for some minor injuries from the crash. Because this is a circuit court warrant he will remain without bond in jail until he goes before the presiding circuit court judge, who in this case is Judge Terrett.”
