One dead after being struck by vehicle on North Washington

One person is dead after being struck by a vehicle on North Washington Street, near Hudson.

Around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday,  a 61-year-old man was walking on North Washington near Hudson when he was struck by a vehicle. He was killed on impact.

The driver of the vehicle had gotten off work and, reportedly, fell asleep behind the wheel of the northbound vehicle.

According to initial investigations, the vehicle is believed to have veered to the left, crossed the centerline, traveled into the southbound lanes and then onto the shoulder where it made contact with the pedestrian.

Numerous VPD units and first responders worked the scene of the accident including Traffic 2, Leonce Young.
