A shooting in Waynesboro, Miss., has left one dead and six wounded.

Police are investigating the Friday night drive-by in the Central Mississippi town that resulted in six people being transported to area hospitals, the Clarion Ledger reports. One additional victim arrived at a hospital later.

One of the seven victims has died, and another is in critical condition.

Lt. Don Hopkins of the Waynesboro Police Department told the paper that he knows little about the shooting.

“We had a person of interest, but that person has been released for the time being,” Hopkins said yesterday. “We’re still working on things and trying to put the pieces together.

“We don’t have any facts at the moment. Nothing has been firmed up.”

If you have any information that could assist the investigation, please call the Waynesboro Police Department at 601-735-3192 or Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 601-735-5323.
