One ejected in crash after chase

A black SUV failed to yield to a traffic stop and, after the deputy terminated the chase, crashed, ejecting the driver.
According to radio traffic, WC-41, Daniel Thomas, attempted a traffic stop just after midnight on a black SUV on or near 61 North. Radio traffic was unclear on the exact location, but the vehicle fled south on 61 North, failing to yield to the deputy’s lights and siren.
The vehicle chose to exit 61 North at Interstate 20 turning west towards the construction zone on 20. The deputy then terminated the chase.
As the deputy proceeded onto I-20 West they called in the crash a short time later. The accident happened in city limits between the entrance from 61 North to I-20 and the Clay Street exit, which is currently shut down for construction.
Deputy Thomas almost immediately called in an ejection from the vehicle requesting an ambulance to the scene.
The driver was reported to have a laceration to the head and possible damage to a leg. He was transported to Merit Health River Region for treatment. There is no word on his current condition but it is not believed to be serious.
