WCSO CRIME ARREST

A Warren County man is in custody after doing donuts in a field near the Sheriff.

That same man, a 47-year-old area resident, was also wanted for stealing a shopping cart from the Family Dollar on South Frontage Road in Vicksburg.

Around 11:30 a.m., Sheriff Martin Pace was getting out of his vehicle at the Bovina Grocery and heard loud engine noises. He observed a 2017 Dodge Minivan doing donuts in a field near the store and proceeded to the location.

The driver of the vehicle, an unidentified 47-year-old area resident, failed to yield to the Sheriff and headed east on Tiffentown. From there, the driver turned onto Tucker Road. WC-67, Jerry Davidson, was able to get ahead of the vehicle on Tucker and force it to stop with the sheriff’s vehicle right behind the minivan.

The driver exited the vehicle and was quickly apprehended. He left the vehicle in gear and it ran into the patrol vehicle, causing minor damage to the door.

He is currently being held in the Warren County jail without bail and will be charged with reckless driving, passing on a double line and suspected DUI.

Family Dollar declined pressing charges for the recovered shopping cart.
