One injured in shooting at Admiral Apartments
One person was shot at the Admiral Apartments around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Multiple 911 calls reported gunshots in the parking lot of the Admiral Apartments on Mission 66 at Grove. According to radio communication, an individual was shot multiple times in the legs. Responding to the incident were a sizable number of police officers, a fire medic unit, and a rescue team. Although the victim was struck multiple times in the leg, their injuries do not seem to be life-threatening.
According to Vicksburg Police Department Investigator Jerrold Hayes, “22-year-old Trayvon Barnett was shot in the leg after a fight.”
Hayes goes on to report, “Barnett and others were attending a gathering at the apartments before the fight began and shots were fired.”
Barnett was transported to an area hospital for treatment. A second person reported minor injuries to her hand as she attempted to break up the fight.
The VPD is not currently releasing any suspect information at this time.
