One killed on Interstate 20 near Bolton

One person is dead after an 18-wheeler flipped and crashed on Interstate 20 westbound near Bolton.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Cpl. Stewart reported to WLBT that the driver of the 18-wheeler died.

The driver has not yet been identified. It appears the driver fell asleep while driving, according to MHP.

The truck crashed into the bridge and flipped on its side in the median based on first reports. Additionally, a red pick-up truck stopped to help and another vehicle hit them. Both drivers were taken to the hospital with injuries. More on their conditions as that information is made available.

Traffic was shut down in the eastbound lanes and down to one lane going westbound. MHP is on scene investigating and working to clear the crash.
