One person dead on Hwy 61 just north of Warren County
Issaquena, Miss. (VDN) — One person has died as a result of a single-vehicle accident on Highway 61 in Issaquena County just before the Warren County line.
At about 3:40 a.m., an SUV carrying four people left the roadway. All four passengers were injured in the accident, with one succumbing to their injuries. Another patient was transported via Air Care to UMMC. The highway was shut down for a period of time to allow the medical helicopter to land on the roadway.
Another passenger was transported via ambulance to UMMC, and the fourth passenger was transported to RRMC by Magnolia Ambulance.
Units from Vicksburg and Warren County responded to the accident scene via a request from Magnolia Ambulance. Responding from Vicksburg and Warren County were Vicksburg Fire Chief Trey Martin, Warren County FireBoss Jerry Briggs, Carl McCafrey, and Hayden McDougal.
Issaquena County Coroner Angela Williams has yet to release the name of the deceased.
