One shot on Ethel Street

Just after 5 p.m., a Vicksburg man was shot after an altercation on Ethel Street.
The victim, a 27-year-old, was shot in the hip by an 18-year-old.
A massive police response, including Police Chief Penny Jones, along with Rescue, Fire Medic 50 and Engine 7 attended to the injured man.
Neighbors report hearing the gunshot and then saw a black male with dreadlocks flee the scene. An unconfirmed report stated the incident was an attempted robbery, but the police have yet to flesh out that detail.
Vicksburg Police, including Mario Grady, went to the home of the suspect but he was not there.
The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
