Otis Scott convicted of felony child abuse in Warren County trial

On Wednesday, Mar. 8, Otis Scott was convicted of felony child abuse in Warren County.
Scott faced a two-count indictment for abusing his children, and he was found guilty of one count while being acquitted of the other. During the trial, he was accused of causing a subdural hematoma, sprained neck, and renal hemorrhaging to the child as a result of the abuse.
Doctors referred to the abuse as “neurologically devastated” because it rendered the young child unable to walk, feed himself, or see.
The crime occurred in February 2020. and Scott’s trial took place this week. After jurors were out for about an hour, they convicted him. Scott is deemed a habitual offender and could potentially face life imprisonment during his sentencing.
Assistant District Attorneys Branan Southerland and Liem Walker worked the case along with investigator Chris Satcher.
Scott will be sentenced on Mar. 17.
