Our policy on obituaries
The Vicksburg Daily News will never charge you for an obituary. We only ask that the obituary is supplied by the funeral home.
I remember when my mother passed a few years ago, I felt it should have been on the nightly news for several days as the lead story and that the newspaper should have it on the front page. I was disgusted when I found out the newspaper charged us $200 for the obituary, they said it was to cover the cost of running it in the paper.
The death of a loved one is traumatic enough. If your loved one passes away, we will run the obituary supplied by the funeral home at no cost and we will share in your loss, with our sincere sympathy.
