“Over 100 shell casings” – Chief Jones on gunfire in parking lot

At around 12:30 a.m., a report of gunfire occurred in the parking lot near Mulberry/Jacques in Vicksburg.
“Over 100 shell casings,” said Chief Penny Jones regarding the number of shell casings found at the location of the gunfire. Chief Jones went on to clarify that various types of weapons were used in the gunfire. Several cars and the retaining wall were riddled with bullets.
At the time of this report, there are no reported injuries associated with this event. Chief Jones went on to indicate that they have names and are investigating leads on the gunfire and damage.
The retaining wall appears to have been sprayed with bullets, while at least three vehicles were hit. One vehicle, a black SUV, had numerous bullet holes, a flat tire, and shattered windows.
Deputy Chief Troy Kimble was at the scene, investigating the shooting.
A shooting that injured four security guards occurred in this same parking lot on May 6. Warrants were issued in that shooting.
