Park Service closes section of Natchez Trace until further notice
A section of the Natchez Trace Parkway is closed due to hazardous road conditions caused by the recent heavy storms in the area.
The closed section begins at mile 93.1 where the Trace intersects with U.S. Highway 49 in Jackson, north to mile 100.7, where the Trace intersects with Interstate 55 in Ridgeland.
The National Park Service suggests the following alternate routes around the closure area for drivers on the Trace:
- Northbound traffic should exit at U.S. Highway 49 South, and then take Interstate 220 North to Interstate 55 North where they can get back on the Parkway northbound.
- Southbound traffic should exit at I-55 South, then take I-220 to U.S. Highway 49 North where they can get back on the Parkway southbound.
The Park Service has not provided a date for reopening.
