PCA beat Tunica 9-6 in game one

Porter’s Chapel Academy baseball team took game one against Tunica Academy in a 9-6 win.
“We let them come back on us but we buckled down at the end and hit the ball when we needed to so I’m proud of them and the way they played for each other,” PCA head coach Paul Ashley said.
The Eagles would heat things up in the second inning after a single from Lawson Selby that brought in a run along with a double from Gage Palmer that added another three runs as PCA went up 4-0.
Chase Hearn, Taylor LaBarre, and Selby would all gain hits in the third just before a double from Thomas Azlin that secured two runs and a hit from Brayden King to put the score at 7-0.
A combination of walks, errors, and hits in the fourth by Tunica would put them right back in the game as they picked up six runs in the inning with the score narrowed to 7-6.
The score would remain the same until the sixth when Selby got another successful bunt which resulted in a run and another hit from Azlin would give PCA the 9-6 lead.
Hearn came in midway through the game to pitch and didn’t allow any runs as the Eagle secured the win.
“Even when things started to go down we picked each other up and let them know that we can always put runs on the board,” Hearn said.
Lawson led things at the plate by going 3 for 4 with one RBI while Hearn brought in two hits.
Azlin went 2 for 4 with two RBIs.
“I’m feeling good about tonight I mean we made a lot of errors but we’re definitely going to clean that up before the next battle,” Azlin said.
Palmer had one hit and three RBIs and Zach Ashley and LaBarre each had one hit.
