PCA defeated Lee Academy 51-48 on Tuesday

Porter’s Chapel Academy girl’s basketball team advances to the second round after defeating Lee Academy 51-48 on Tuesday.

The Lady Eagles took a 15-3 lead in the first quarter after a 3-pointer by Marley Bufkin and a few shots from Tiara Sims and Anjel Walton. PCA had a 26-14 lead by halftime once Walton and Sophie Masterson got on the board easily.

Coming out of halftime, Masterson knocked down a 3-pointer while Emily Muirhead and Hannah Henderson got on the board as they were up 37-33. With Walton and Sims contributing heavily in the final quarter, the Lady Eagles were able to pull off the close win.

Sims led with 16 points and Walton added 15. Masterson finished with 11 points and Bufkin pitched in five. Henderson and Muirhead also scored two points.

PCA will face Newton Academy on Thursday in the second round at Kemper Academy.
