Porter’s Chapel Academy baseball team will advance to the second round of the playoffs after defeating Desoto School 2-1 on Friday.

Both teams struggled to get hits in the beginning of the game but things changed in the fourth inning.

After Taylor Labarre was hit, Chase Hearn singled on a ground ball which led to PCA getting on the board first. Brayden King soon got an RBI to push the lead to 2-0 in the fourth.

Desoto got on the board in the fifth inning after a hit but didn’t get another run in the match.

PCA maintained their 2-1 lead throughout the rest of the day which allowed them to advance to the second round.

John Wyatt Massey went 2 for 4 at the plate while Zach Ashley, Hearn, Laken Bradley and King each had one hit.

Ashley struck out seven on the night.
