PCA fell short of victory in a close match against Manchester

Porter’s Chapel Academy and Manchester went toe to toe on Friday night in a higher scoring match where the Eagles fell 40-34.

Manchester quickly took a 22-8 lead in the first quarter, but PCA quickly bounced back with a score to make it 22-16.

The Mavericks high powered offense continued to score, allowing them a 36-16 halftime lead.

PCA quarterback Jace Riggs soon stepped up by throwing touchdowns to both Willie Rogers and Tyler Washington. Riggs also had a rushing touchdown on the night, finishing with 127 rushing yards, one rushing touchdown and two passing touchdowns with one interception.

Rogers carried the ball seven times for 42 yards, two rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown with 80 receiving yards.

Washington had three catches for a touchdown. He carried the ball eight times for 29 yards and he racked up six tackles and a sack on defense.

Defensively, Gage Palmer led the Eagles with nine tackles while Rogers and John Wyatt Massey had seven with Hayden Beard bringing in a sack and adding six.

PCA will face Discovery Christian next Friday in their home opener.
