PCA remains undefeated after beating Riverdale in double overtime

Porter’s Chapel Academy football team came away with a 26-18 double overtime win against Riverdale on Friday.

John Wyatt Massey completed 6 of 10 passes for 90 yards and three touchdowns. Jase Jung carried the ball 12 times for 128 rushing yards and a touchdown. Ty Mack ended the night with 67 rushing yards, three receptions, 54 receiving yards and a touchdown.

Thomas Azlin caught two touchdown passes and brought in 31 receiving yards.

By the end of the fourth quarter, both teams were tied at 12 which forced an overtime. Riverdale scored first then PCA responded when Wyatt hit Azlin for a touchdown pass. In double overtime, Azlin scored again on 4th down. The Eagles were able to stop Riverdale while on defense and won the game.

Defensively, Azlin led with 14 tackles and four sacks while Connelly Johnston(two sacks) and Hunter Simms both had 11 tackles. Taylor LaBarre and Massey both grabbed six tackles for PCA.

The Eagles will face Humphrey’s Academy on Friday.
