PCA took down River Oaks 66-38 in their season opener on Friday

Porter’s Chapel Academy started their football season off with a bang by defeating River Oaks 66-38 on Friday.

The Eagles got on the board early from a defensive touchdown by Jase Jung after a fumble recovery with 7:54 left in the first quarter. Later on in the first quarter, Henry Slayton blasted the quarterback for a safety to put PCA up 8-0. Before the quarter came to an end, Ty Mack would break out for a long touchdown to put the score at 14-0.

With 1:30 left in the first quarter, PCA scored again with and gained a 22-0 lead.

Not long into the second quarter, Mack broke out for a 60 yard touchdown run as the Eagles led 28-0. It wouldn’t take long for Taylor LaBarre to show off his speed by earning a 66-yard touchdown run which put PCA up 36-0.

River Oaks would eventually get on the board from a touchdown run but Jung responded with a 55-yard touchdown just shortly afterwards.

At halftime PCA would be up 52-10.

Later on in the third quarter, Gavin Pugh grabbed a 100-yard pick 6 with the Eagles leading 58-20. RO quickly responded with a touchdown to put the score at 58-26 going into the fourth quarter.

The PCA offense couldn’t be stopped as Thomas Azlin caught a 21-yard TD from John Wyatt Massey to give the Eagles a 66-26 lead. RO would score one more time but the Eagles would easily pull out the win.

Jung had nine carries for 138 yards and three rushing touchdowns. Mack brought in 138 yards and two touchdowns off four carries while LaBarre had a 66-yard touchdown. Massey completed 4 of 6 passes for 62 yards and a touchdown.

LaBarre led the defense with eight tackles while Pugh and Mack both pulled in six.

PCA will host Delta Academy next Friday.
