Makaylia Shaylynn Jolley of Pearl, Mississippi has been arrested and charged with capital murder of her 9-week-old daughter.

On Thursday, police were dispatched to North Bierdeman Road where Jolley allegedly thrown her baby on the road. Witnesses said that Jolley ‘repeatedly and forcibly’ threw the infant.

The 20-year-old mother then ran into the nearby woods as police arrived and the child was transported to Children’s Hospital of Mississippi.

Jolley was soon arrested and charged with felony abuse of a child and attempted murder. The baby died on Saturday and charges were upgraded to capital murder.

“This act was very deliberate and intentional,” Pearl Police Chief Dean Scott said. “She showed no remorse. And, as a chief, myself, my men and women, working with (the district attorney), we’re going to work hard to make sure she receives the just (punishment) she deserves.”

Jolley also has a son, who has been placed in the custody of his grandmother.

Jolley will be back in court on Tuesday to face her new charges.
