Pedestrian struck and killed on Highway 61 North Friday morning

A pedestrian was struck and killed Friday morning on U.S. Highway 61 North.

At around 5:21 a.m. Vicksburg Warren 911 dispatched first responders to  an accident on Highway 61 North where a vehicle had reportedly struck a pedestrian. The accident occurred in the northbound lane near the Family Dollar Store under construction.

Arriving units reported that the pedestrian did not survive.

Vicksburg and Warren County Fire Fighters are on scene, along with Warren County Sheriff’s Deputy’s and the Mississippi Highway Patrol. The Coroner is on the way.

Traffic is expected to be impacted for at least an hour or more. Please choose an alternate route if possible.
