A Pelahatchie woman has been sentenced to 120 months in federal prison after she pled guilty to hiring a hitman to kill her now-ex husband, WLBT reports.

Jessica Leeann Sledge went before U.S. District Court Judge Carlton Reeves on Monday for sentencing.  Judge Reeves called the case “very troubling” and “egregious” before sentencing Sledge to the full 10-year sentence that was offered in a plea deal, followed by three years supervised probation and fined her $1,000.

Sledge used the internet, her cell phone and the “Whatsapp” application to arrange a murder-for-hire plot to kill her husband, Jerry. Unknown to Sledge, the “hitman” she hired via the internet to commit a murder was in fact an FBI Special Agent.

In addition to multiple online chats, Sledge met with an agent on Nov. 1 at the Home Depot in Brandon to provide additional payment and

An agent testified to the court that Sledge had also discussed killing a second person with the undercover agent in Brandon, described as “a female who couldn’t keep her mind on her own business.”

Court documents show that Sledge made Bitcoin payments totaling $10,000 over the dark web to commit the murder of her husband.
