Photos from the Vicksburg Veterans Day Parade
Veterans, military troops, bands and supporters showed up in Vicksburg this morning for a parade marking Veterans Day. All photos by David Day for the Vicksburg Daily News.
Tommy Oakes, Marine, Vietnam era veteran, spent his morning being thanked and having his photo taken. In Vietnam, he was with India company, third battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division from Jan 1, 1969 to Sept 30, 1969.
A marcher dressed as a World War I “doughboy.” Veterans Day began as a commemoration of the end of World War I, “the war to end all wars.”
