Phyllis Wilson Mobley, 1939 – 2020

Phyllis Wilson Mobley, 81, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2020.
Phyllis was born June 24, 1939, in Yazoo City, Mississippi. She graduated from Carr Central High School in 1957. After graduating high school she married Luke Mobley, and they moved to Hattiesburg where Luke attended University of Southern Mississippi. Phyllis held several different professions but what she loved most was owning her day care, where she raised many children in Vicksburg. Phyllis spent her life serving The Lord in all aspects of the church, but she had a special calling for children’s ministry. She served as a Sunday School teacher, puppet ministry director, children’s choir director, and in recent years she was a part of The Good News Club. She touched many lives through her service in the children’s ministry. Phyllis was an active member of the Steele Magnolias of Bovina Baptist church.
Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her family and loved being a part of her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s lives. She is better known as Gammie or Meme to the family. Gammie was always excited to attend sporting events, choir concerts and other activities that the kids were involved in. She loved having girls’ nights and getting together as often as possible. She was the life of the party, and you were guaranteed to laugh hearing one of her wonderful stories.
