Police searching for shooting suspect

The Vicksburg Police Department is asking the public for help in finding Omar Carter.

Police have identified Carter, 18, as a suspect in a shooting that occurred on April 9.

At 9:07 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to the New Main Apartments, 2727 Alcorn Drive, in reference to shots fired into an apartment. The victims stated they were inside their apartment when they heard several shots coming from outside in the parking lot. The building was struck several times, and officers located one vehicle in the parking lot that was struck in the rear fender.

Carter is wanted for shooting into an occupied vehicle and shooting into an occupied dwelling, He is considered armed and dangerous.

His last known address is 30 Kings St., in Vicksburg.
