43-year-old Marc Hyder took a plea deal on Monday and was sentenced to 35 years for a murder that took place in Port Gibson on Mar. 5.

Hyder is accused of  killing his family member Harold Hyder last year during a disagreement.

At some point Marc Hyder allegedly produced a .380 handgun and shot Harold, striking him in the head.

“We do not have any room for crime in our community. Making an arrest is just a relief, but getting a sentence is justice being served and closure for Harold’s family and friends.”Chief Russell Dorsey said.
