Port Gibson officer Michael Wells was awarded at the Port Gibson City Board Meeting by Port Gibson Police Chief Russel Dorsey. Wells was awarded for an outstanding job on Nov. 26 which led to the arrest of a burglary suspect.

On Nov. 26 at 1:03 a.m., Wells responded to a commercial burglary call at a Dollar General store. After the investigation concluded, the store management informed the officer that the door was unable to be secured.

Wells continued to take extra time to patrol the area and keep a watch over the store. At 2:01 a.m. the suspect returned to the scene for a second time and Wells was able to apprehend them inside the store.

Thanks to the vigilance of officer Wells, a burglar was arrested and a business was protected.
