The City of Port Gibson delivered the first of two donations of 2,500 disposable masks to the Claiborne County School District Tuesday. The donation was funded by MBR Media and Synchrony Health Care of Vicksburg.

Mayor Willie White said Wednesday morning that he and city leaders are working on other strategic partnerships along with some possible grant funding to acquire additional resources to combat the spread of COVID-19.

Claiborne County has had 465 cases to date and 16 deaths; 43 of the cases were reported in long-term care facilities where nine people died. Using the latest census data, this equates to roughly 5% of the county’s population as having had the virus.
