Port Gibson Water Department issues boil notice

Andrew Penley, supervisor of the Port Gibson Water Department has issued a boil notice for everyone served by the Port Gibson Water District.

Friday afternoon, a six-inch water main ruptured, causing crews to respond to repair the damage. Crews worked overnight and into early Saturday morning repairing leak.

The leak has been repaired, however, pressure was lost in the line during the repair which could allow for contaminants to backwash into the water supply.

As a result of the drop in pressure, a boil notice is necessary until water tests come back clear.
