Porter’s Chapel Junior High girls earn win; varsity teams fall to Clinton Christian

CLINTON, Miss. (VDN) — Porter’s Chapel Academy’s junior high girls’ basketball team continued its strong early-season play Tuesday night with a 25-7 victory over Clinton Christian Academy. The win highlighted the evening for PCA as both varsity teams suffered losses later in the night.

Marley Busby led the junior high Lady Eagles with nine points, while Lauren Rae Davis contributed five. Raedon Busby and Brooklyn Derrossette each added four points, Haylee White scored two, and Jayden Chapin sank a free throw to round out the scoring.

In varsity action, the PCA boys fell 60-43 to Clinton Christian. Schaffer Bell led the Eagles with 19 points, and Corvin Finch followed with 14. Will Lancaster chipped in six points, Coltin Hancock added three, and Corey Darolen hit a free throw.

The PCA varsity girls also faced a tough challenge, taking a 56-9 loss to Clinton Christian. Michaela Chambliss scored four points, while Marley Busby knocked down a 3-pointer and Raedon Busby added two points.

Porter’s Chapel Academy will look to bounce back as all teams travel to face Park Place Academy on Friday.

Vicksburg High Junior High:

The Gators took a close overtime loss to Terry on Monday night. Kaleb Sims led the team with 20 points. Brandon Smith Jr. had 14 points while Peyton Walker and Javunte Williams both scored four points. Messiah Robinson had three points.
