Postal Service Head Louis Dejoy announced several changes on Tuesday that will increase rates and close some facilities, along with modifications to hours at others.

Very few specifics were outlined in Dejoy’s plan. The embattled postal service is deeply in debt. The plan calls for adding an additional day to express type mail services along with pricing increases which were not defined.

During the recent holiday season, postal performance reached the worst levels in generations: 71% on-time delivery for two-day mail and 38% for three-day mail in late December. Rate increases could be implemented as soon as this summer and could be as much as 9%.
