Postal Service files for temporary rate hike through Christmas
The embattled United States Postal Service has filed a notice with the Postal Regulatory Commission to increase prices from Oct. 18 through Dec. 27.
The notice says the increase is due to the high demand for shipping from online sales.
Package shipments will see an increase from 24 cents to as much as $1.50.
The price increase is expected to provide the agency with much needed revenue while remaining competitive with private sector shipping companies.
