Powerful winds ravage Warren County, over 1100 still without power

Sunday’s storm system produced powerful winds which littered Warren County with debris and created extremely hazardous conditions. Twin County Electric state that over 1100 are still without power.

Sea Island Drive at Eagle Lake is one of the areas in northern Warren County where high winds have taken their toll. The entire area has been littered with foliage from strong winds, which residents believe was, indeed, a tornado. Residents reported seeing debris flying in several directions as the storm raged on.

Though not officially confirmed as a tornado as of this writing, the winds produced significant enough damage to fell several trees and take out power lines.

One tree fell onto a home at Eagle Lake, leaving a 24-year-old woman trapped in the debris. Emergency personnel worked for over an hour, stabilizing the structure in order to remove the debris and extract her to safety. She was taken to UMMC with hip injuries. Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Area residents are urged to use caution on the roadways. Downed trees and power lines are still of concern.
