Public hearing Wednesday on closing off streets to traffic in downtown Vicksburg

The City of Vicksburg will hold a public hearing Wednesday to discuss making a section of the downtown area accessible only to pedestrians.

The proposal was discussed at Monday’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting. On the table is closing some downtown streets to automobile traffic from Thursday through Sunday from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m.

The board will meet at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, to further discuss the proposal and the public hearing will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Robert M. Walker Building board room, 1415 Walnut St.
