Southern Miss football player Quez Watkins showed off his speed and skills to NFL scouts Thursday at the NFL combine. He ran 40 yards in 4.36 seconds coming in second place.

Watkins recently finished his redshirt junior season at the University of Southern Mississippi where he was the Golden Eagles top wide receiver. Over his college football career, Watkins has played under Vicksburg native Jay Hopson, who is the head coach for the Golden Eagles.

Although Watkins was under two-game suspension at the beginning of the season, he still managed to gain 64 receptions, 1,178 yards, and six touchdowns by the time the season was over. Watkins had his best game this season against North Texas where he had eight catches, 198 yards, and one touchdown.

In his final game as a Golden Eagle, Watkins gained 154 yards on nine catches. Shortly after the season ended, he declared for the NFL Draft.
