Son of Rankin County pastor faces sex crimes against minor, parents charges dropped

The son of a Rankin County pastor is facing charges following allegations involving a minor.

Nicholas Webb, 21, and the son of the pastor of Plain Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, Pastor Steven Webb, has been arrested on August 25 in connection with claims of inappropriate behavior with a relative.

Steven Webb and his spouse, Stephanie Webb, were also arrested on concerns related to potential neglect of a child. The bond for each parent was established at $250,000. It was suspected that the couple was aware of the incident but did not notify the authorities.

However, during a preliminary hearing in Rankin County, the charges against the parents were dismissed.

As for Nicholas Webb, he is facing two counts of sexual battery and one count of statutory conduct involving a minor under 14 years of age. His bond has been set at $600,000, and a grand jury will hear his case.
