Redwood Woman Killed In Motorcycle Crash on I-20

HINDS COUNTY, MS – A single vehicle motorcycle crash late Wednesday night claimed the life of a Redwood woman and left the driver injured. The Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) responded to the scene at approximately 11:30 p.m. on October 23, near the 28-mile marker on I-20 West in Hinds County.

According to MHP, a 2022 Harley Davidson, driven by 27-year-old William Owens III of Redwood, MS, veered off the road and collided with the cable barrier. Owens was injured in the crash and was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson, where his condition remains unknown.

24-year-old Desiree Owens, the passenger of the motorcycle and also from Redwood, MS, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
