Moments ago, Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves announced in his afternoon press conference that school buildings will remain closed for the remainder of this semester.

“This does not mean schools are closed,” Reeves said. “I am asking school districts to submit plans for ongoing distance learning. We will look at plans for the summer and this fall as we move forward.”

Reeves also announced the formation of a “Re-Start Mississippi” committee to see how to assist businesses large and small in re-integration back into business as the crisis subsides. The committee will be chaired by Joe Sanderson of Sanderson Farms.
