Mississippians 65 years of age and older and those with preexisting conditions making them more vulnerable to COVID-19 are now eligible to receive vaccinations for the virus.

Gov. Tate Reeves announced expansion of vaccine availability in his news conference Tuesday. To date, about 63,000 Mississippians have been inoculated, including about 5,700 who have received both required doses.

Vaccines are free when administered through the joint program of the Mississippi State Department of Health and the University of Mississippi Medical Center and supported by the Mississippi National Guard.

An appointment is necessary. To schedule your appointment, go online to covidvaccine.umc.edu, or call 877-978-6453.
