Rescuers recovered a disabled boat on the Mississippi River

Published

UPDATE:

The boat is back at the dock, and the boaters are back on dry land. Everyone is safe.

Original story:

Rescuers are rushing to retrieve a disabled boat on the Mississippi River.

The disabled boat, with two adults and three children on board, is approximately three miles south of LeTourneau. With the number of tow boats and barges on the river, the situation could be serious for a disabled boat.

Agent Lee Harvey with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks Enforcement and Deputy Thomas McBride with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office have launched a boat and are on the way.

At this time, there is no information on how the vessel became disabled or any further information on the boat or its occupants.

This is a developing story. The Vicksburg News will provide updates as we know them.
