I went to Superior Crab on its grand opening with full knowledge of my seafood allergy. I didn’t care. I was so excited for a new style of restaurant in Vicksburg.

Even though the restaurant was packed, there was no wait. I was surprised. They were getting orders out faster than people could order them.

My parents, my son, and I sat down while our server, JC, was very attentive. We explained that we needed to go ahead and get the baby’s food because he was being fussy. We also ordered a grilled oyster appetizer. Even with a full house, we got both the appetizer and my son’s food before we were really settled in all the way.

We ordered chicken tenders with fries for my son, and they were piping hot. That plate could’ve fed two grown men, and my 11-month-old son devoured it. I took a bite of his chicken tender and it was probably the best chicken tender I’ve had in Vicksburg. I know you don’t go to a seafood place for fried chicken, but if you did you wouldn’t be disappointed. It was crispy and tasted hand battered. The fries were so hot we couldn’t give them to him at first, but that’s how you want your fries ya know?

For our dishes i ordered the Monday night special. It had king crab, mussels, shrimp, corn, egg, and a potato. My parents ordered the fried shrimp and the fried catfish. Those both came with coleslaw and fries.

I’m gonna be honest, I didn’t try their food so I’m not gonna sit here and lie on it. It smelled delicious, looked wonderful, but I was completely star struck by that food I got. I had the seasoning blend which came with garlic parm, lemon pepper, and cajun seasoning. The audacity of these people to give me a plate of food that made me want to give my mortgage to them.

The food was sooo fresh and cooked to perfection. I put my fancy little bib on, and started cracking that crab barehanded like a caveman. The shrimp was headless, so that made my life easier. I destroyed the mussels.

The mussels were my favorite part, I could’ve ate 352 lbs of those mussels. They were juicy, and that seasoning sauce really penetrated that protein. It’s surprising how delicious the food was when you consider how fast the service was. JC and the chefs really outdid themselves. I could’ve drank the marinade, I’m telling y’all it was and that corn was off the chain, and next time I’m for sure ordering 2-3 extra eggs, because they were hard boiled, and not burnt. You could taste that marinade in the yolk.

The crab was cooked so well that you could crack the leg in half and not damage the meat. I mean this place was phenomenal. Y’all have to give it a shot. I cannot wait to go back.

Superior crab is located on Pemberton Boulevard where El Paso used to be. I hope you all have a great experience, and don’t forget to tip your server.
