Ret. Col. Donnell Berry dies

Mississippi is mourning the loss of Retired Colonel Donnell Berry, who served over 35 years with the Mississippi Highway Patrol. The agency shared their condolences on social media Saturday.
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Retired Colonel Donnell Berry. Col. Berry served as Chief of the Mississippi Highway Patrol for 5 years. Our prayers and condolences are with his family and friends. pic.twitter.com/yANf87HXlE

“They didn’t come any better than Col. Berry!” Chad Stuart replied. “You will be missed.”
The Mississippi Department of Public Safety also took to social media to thank Berry for his dedication to the people of Mississippi.
We thank Ret. Colonel Berry for his long service to the state of Mississippi and the @MSHwyPatrol.

Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones perhaps said it best, “Col. Berry was always a man of dignity when we crossed paths and it was always a pleasure to speak with him. Thanks for your service and rest well, sir.”
