Porter’s Chapel Academy softball player Emily Muirhead is entering her freshman year with plenty of varsity experience, and she is pumped up about the upcoming season.

“I feel we have what it takes to be great this year if we work at it and do what our coaches tell us to do, and I can see us going all the way,” Muirhead said.

In 2022, Muirhead stepped up at the pitcher position as an eighth grader for PCA, where she threw 32 strikeouts and earned a spot on the VDN All County list. Her best performance was when she threw a no-hitter against Wilkinson County Christian in a 24-5 victory.

“I think I did better than I expected last year, and I feel like I did amazing under pressure because I’m not a person who cracks under pressure,” Muirhead added.

The Lady Eagles missed the playoffs last year, but with Muirhead being a big part of the future, she is determined that PCA will have a promising season in 2023.

“I know that we’re all going to work together this year, and now that we have a full coaching staff, I can see huge things happening with this program,” Muirhead said.

Muirhead is expected to do great things in 2023 for PCA as they will kick things off against Wilkinson County Christian on Aug. 1.
