Vicksburg-Warren E-911 began getting numerous calls of shots being fired from a vehicle near Grange Hall Road and U.S. Highway 61 South just after 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Apparently, the incident stemmed from a road-rage incident.

One caller made it to the Dollar General on Highway 61 South before reporting his vehicle had been struck by a bullet. The bullet went through the car’s window and was later recovered from inside.

A description of the shooter’s vehicle, a maroon SUV, was broadcast to all area law enforcement.

Vicksburg Police Chief Milton Moore advised his officers to saturate the 61 South area given the location of the callers. It appeared the incident began in the city, went out into the county and traveled back inside city limits.

Subsequently, Officer Maria Grady spotted the vehicle near a convenience store and was able to detain the suspect, a young woman. The passenger in the shooter’s vehicle was also taken into custody.

The woman was turned over to Warren County Sheriff’s deputies who have her in custody and have recovered the weapon used.
